Rain or shine, meet at the Charleston Visitor Center and an interpreter from the South Slough will guide you through the fascinating world of birds. Some walking and driving required. FOSS (the Friends of South Slough reserve) is a non-profit, all-volunteer support organization for the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve located on the Southern Oregon Coast.
South Slough is the first of now 28 National Estuarine Research Reserves created under the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972. The Reserve celebrated its 35th anniversary in calendar year 2009.
