FOSS (the Friends of South Slough reserve) is a non-profit, all-volunteer support organization for the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve located on the Southern Oregon Coast.
South Slough is the first of now 28 National Estuarine Research Reserves created under the Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972. The Reserve celebrated its 35th anniversary in calendar year 2009.

Trail and Treat 5k and Kid’s Dash Followed by Lunch & Music on the Lawn! Saturday, October 15th South Slough Reserve Interpretive Center 61907 Seven Devils Road 4 miles south of Charleston
Run or walk where the river meets the sea, along vast tidal flats, extensive marshes and meandering channels. Technical trails, boardwalks, hills (300” change in elevation). Kids Dash starts at 9:30 am and is free. Estuary-themed costumes are encouraged for ages 1-12. 5K run/walk begins at 9:45 am; day of event registration is from 8-9:15 am. Lunch and music will be from 11:30-1:30. We are pleased to present T-Bird and the Nightshift for your musical entertainment. Please bring a blanket and/or lawn chairs to sit on.
